Birth of a Teepee

This morning I went with two friends to cut Manuka

We chose and cut trees that needed clearing for Teepee poles

I know how to tell Manuka from Kanuka now......

And attended my first pipe ceremony..

All in all a good experience...

Feeding Time....

We always seem to be feeding one animal or another...!!

We have 5 hedgehogs coming for supper each evening...

For the hedgehog lovers...the milk in the saucer is special non dairy ;o)

No Exit...

Sometimes it feels that this valley doesn't want to let you go....

Maybe we really are are captured by fairies....

Beware all who enter here..lest ye be away with Titania and the fairies for a very long time....

Although time seems intangible here....

More Mist!!!

Just blows me away....

Another morning that truly was breakfast for the soul...

Mist rising, sun burning through....

and lighting the autumn leaves's

with pure gold...

yep.. even those non native *noxious weeds*!!

Went to Neslon today and visited a friends exhibition at The Refinery gallery...

saw some lovely work and particularly liked a piece incorporating a sword made by a guy called Steve Young.....

Morning Mist....

I never fail to smile at the beauty of this valley...

It is at it's best soon after sunrise....

and when the mist is rising off the hills it is stunning....

Draco Gets Shorn...

Well actually not fully shorn..

Just cruched.. but that sounded rather painful for a header!

Our farmer was really very gentle with him...

We thought about having a pom pom on the end of his tail but decided we would leave him with some dignity :o)

Penknives and Corpse Brides...

Did my stuff in the school this morning...... I do enjoy it...

Had lunch and a catch up with Jo

Had a reading..last was 3 months ago... I feel more at peace for it..

Polly wanted a Swiss Army Knife for her birthday as we couldn't get what she wanted at the time..so went shopping for that...

Difficult quest, it had to have certain tools and be blue or black...I found one which she loves...kinda feel like I conquered Everest ;o)

Also bought the DVD lof the long awaited Corpse Bride by Tim Burton

...haven't watched it yet!

Seals and Mountains....

Had a mad dash trip to Kaikoura...

Saw seals....smelt them too :)

The mountains look pretty good, but if you discount them we could have been in East Anglia some of the time....

The sea looked stunning as we drove along the East Coast road....

Cool Clock!!

I needed a clock for my kitchen as the only one we have in the house is a teeny bedside one...

Found this awesome 50's style job today, really cheap in Warehouse..

Fits this old (read much in need of redecoration), kitchen perfectly....

and has a timer to boot :)

The *YUM* Factor

is........

Ripe avo spread on Mackenzies Southern Grain bread toasted....

drizzled with lemon juice..

topped with fresh sliced tomatoes..

and heaps of fresh ground black pepper..

and a few drops of good balsamic vinegar....

a couple of basil leaves..

and a sunny spot to devour it in...
